Join us at 7:00 p.m., September 10, 2024, at The Highlands Ranch LDS Stake Center, 9800 Foothills Canyon Blvd #B, Highlands Ranch, CO 80129 for a presentation of “British Research Methodology: How, what, and where to search,” presented by professional genealogist Sylvia Tracy-Doolos. British research differs from American research in a variety of ways. Sylvia will highlight the best places to search and cover the major differences from American research in terminology, language, and records. Extra Q&A time is built into this presentation for those new to the topic. Sylvia has over 40 years of genealogical experience as a researcher, teacher, and writer. She has lectured nationally at National Genealogical Society (NGS) and regional conferences and throughout the Rocky Mountain West. She is a member and officer of the Colorado Chapter of the Association of Professional Genealogists, the International Society of British Genealogy and Family History (ISBGFH), and Wales, Ireland, Scotland, England Family History Society (WISE-FHS), plus a member of the Colorado Genealogical Society and other local and state societies. Sylvia has a BA (honors) in History with a minor in Linguistics to better understand the role of language change and its effect on genealogical records. Arrive early at 6:30 p.m. for networking with fellow genealogists. You never know who might have an answer to your most perplexing research problem. Also, if you would like help using FamilySearch and the many other resources of the Highlands Ranch FamilySearch Center for your genealogical research, Kevin Cope, the Center Director, will again be available starting at six p.m. to assist anyone who comes at that time.
