Highlands Ranch Genealogical April 2023 Program: Find Your Ancestors in Pre-Statehood Records
Join us at 7 p.m., Tuesday, April 4, 2022, at The Highlands Ranch LDS Stake Center, 9800 Foothills Canyon Blvd #B, Highlands Ranch, CO 80129 for a remote presentation of “It Goes with the Territory! Find Your Ancestors in Pre-Statehood Records,” by Alice Hoyt Veen.
From the Old Northwest to the Hawaiian Islands, the United States has acquired and settled new lands. If your ancestor pioneered pre-statehood territories, they may have left records valuable to documenting and understanding their lives. Discussion includes a timeline of territorial settlement and governance, and strategies for locating and using territorial records.
Alice Hoyt Veen, a sixth-generation Iowan, has been a dedicated family historian for more than thirty-five years. She is a Board-certified genealogist, professional researcher, and educator. She founded Prairie Roots Research in 2010 to provide reliable, source-cited research solutions for family historians seeking superior results.
Over the past decade, Alice has been privileged to serve a diverse clientele. Each project has added depth to her experience and expertise. Although Alice no longer accepts new research cases, she continues to grow through personal research projects and ongoing education. She takes pleasure in sharing her knowledge through educational writing and speaking.
Alice is a former trustee of the BCG Education Fund, an independent non-profit charitable trust advancing the educational aims of the Board for Certification of Genealogists® by funding learning programs consistent with genealogical standards.
