A Festival of Lessons and Carols
A Festival of Lessons and Carols is a magnificent service of Scripture and song, with many gifted instrumentalists and vocalists. All are welcome to attend this free event. Please join us Friday December 15th, 7pm at St. Francis of Assisi Roman Catholic Church, 2746 Fifth Street, Castle Rock, CO. This special service proclaims the Word not through a sermon but through nine 'lessons', or Scripture readings with accompanying carols. The concert honors the structure of this traditional service while incorporating different Scripture readings and carols to tell the Christmas story. This Annual event is especially celebrated this year as we, the Parish of St. Francis of Assisi, Castle Rock, commemorate our 135th Anniversary. St. Francis, one of the world's most beloved saints, cared deeply for God's creation. He also loved Christmas, the feast of the Nativity of Our Lord. St. Francis' meditations on the life of Christ led him to create the first ever Nativity scene in Greccio, Italy, in 1223. This awe-inspiring event is a perfect way to enter into the Christmas Spirit. Please join us!

Lord, make me an instrument of your peace:
where there is hatred, let me sow love;
where there is injury, pardon;
where there is doubt, faith;
where there is despair, hope;
where there is darkness, light;
where there is sadness, joy.
O divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek
to be consoled as to console,
to be understood as to understand,
to be loved as to love.
For it is in giving that we receive,
it is in pardoning that we are pardoned,
and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life.
