48 Years of Hope & Healing
Karis Community has been a place of hope and healing for adults managing serious and persistent mental illness since 1976. Join us on Thursday, May 9, from 6:00 – 9:00 pm at Punch Bowl Social to celebrate Karis' 48th birthday. Enjoy an evening of comfort foods, a silent auction, a paddle raiser, stories from Alumni, and popular games like bowling, giant scrabble, karaoke, arcades, and more!
"48 Years of Hope & Healing" aims to raise funds to maintain Karis Community's unique Empowerment Program. Karis is the only community model residential program of its kind. Our program offers individual check-ins, six weekly support group meetings, community meals, household supplies, utilities, and onsite mental health services. Most of our Community Members are individuals with financial resources below the poverty line; many have managed homelessness at some point in their lifetime. Nearly all Members utilize public support, such as Medicaid and Social Security benefits, to assist in their recovery process. We are passionate about keeping our program fees low to allow individuals of all incomes access to our life-changing program.
