Friends of Chamber Music wraps up the 2023-24 Piano Series with a much-awaited performance by Italian pianist, Beatrice Rana, who is making her FCM debut prior to her Carnegie Hall recital the following week. Rana has become an international star in the classical music world, receiving praise from audiences and critics alike. She begins the program with demanding and dazzling pieces that showcase her extraordinary sensitivity, including two works never performed on our series: Scriabin’s Fantasy in B Minor and Castelnuovo-Tedesco’s rarely heard Cipressi. She will also perform two solo works by Debussy, followed by Liszt’s towering Piano Sonata in B Minor. Our thanks to CPR Classical for their support of this event. Tickets: In person and livestream tickets are available through the Newman Center Box Office, newmantix.org, or 303-871-7720. Tickets are $55 for general admission, $15 for guests 30 and younger; $5 for students (with ID). About Beatrice Rana: Based in Rome, Beatrice Rana has been shaking up the international classical music world, inspiring admiration and interest from concert presenters, conductors, critics, and audiences around the world. Born into a family of musicians in 1993, Beatrice Rana made her orchestral debut at the age of nine, performing Bach’s Concerto in F minor. Rana attracted international attention in 2011, at the age of 18, when she won first prize at the Montreal International Competition. She went on to win second prize and the Audience Award at the prestigious Van Cliburn Competition in 2013. In 2017, the release of Bach’s Goldberg Variations was a milestone in her career. The recording was praised by reviewers worldwide and crowned by two major awards: Young Artist of the Year at the Gramophone Awards and Discovery of the Year at the Edison Awards. In June 2018, she was chosen as Female Artist of the Year at the Classic BRIT Awards at the Royal Albert Hall.
