Sowing Seeds of Success: The Woman’s Land Army of America in World War I
Description: Have any of you ever heard of the Woman’s Land Army of America or the Women’s Land Army of Europe? These Armies formed in World War I and again in World War II to work with the American farmers, to farm their crops, feed our allies overseas and feed our people here at home. When World War I began it took away America’s farmers to serve in the war effort. America needed a new work force, and it was a success, though there was much doubt in the beginning, and these women had to prove themselves. From this program you will learn about this great group of capable women that helped at home during the Great Wars and had their own “Army”! Unfortunately, no records for the Woman’s Land Army of America were ever documented.
Presenter: Connie Magee Masson is a retired educator who also worked in business and industry as a presenter and trainer on the use of technology in schools, businesses, and daily life. She became a Doctor of Vocational Education and Business in 1981 during the very beginning of word processing and office automation – technology that is now a part of our everyday lives. Connie is a member of the Louisville, CO, Indian Peaks Chapter, National Society Daughters of the American Revolution, Colorado State Society, NSDAR, Cameo Club, Evergreen, Rocky Mountain Crest Chapter, United States Daughter of the War of 1812 and Longmont Genealogy Society.
