Opening Reception for The Dry: Black Women’s Legacy in a Farming Community

Join us at 6:00 PM on April 14th at the History Colorado Center as we celebrate our new exhibition The Dry: Black Women’s Legacy in a Farming Community. Founded in the early 1900s, the residents of The Dry were able to thrive for decades despite their harsh environment. This story of family and perseverance is an example and testament to Black agricultural excellence. You’ll hear stories from the Craig Family, former residents, and stewards of the Dry’s legacy. You’ll also hear from Dexter Nelson II, our Associate Curator of African American History and Cultural Heritage, about how History Colorado is working to preserve the history of The Dry, and other stories of the Black experience in Colorado. Cash bar and light refreshments. The museum will be open after hours and is limited only to the third floor mezzanine. This event is free and open to the public, but RSVP is required through this ticket link.
