Mappy Hour a monthly happy hour meetup group that gets together and talks about the outdoors. We cater to two demographics; Denverites wanting to be more involved in the outdoors, but don't quite know where to start along with the experienced outdoorsy person looking to easily gain access to new adventures. It is free to become a Mappy Hour member and the majority of our events are complementary.
There are 7 active chapters across the country with 900 members here in Denver. Our presenting sponsors are Sierra Nevada and Merrell, thus allowing our members to receive free drinks and raffle prizes at each get together.
Our April event will showcase Colorado's iconic hiking trails. Dr. Jon Kedrowski, who has not only hiked but skied down every Colorado 14-er along with summiting Mt Everest multiple times, will discuss exploring the mountains and high elevation lakes of Colorado. The presentation will focus on trip planning, weather and climate conditions and backcountry safety. Our host will highlight some of Colorado's most scenic lakes, high mountain peaks, swimming spots and even “Wild Ice” skating. Jon will also touch on his recent expeditions to both Everest and Winter K2. He will discuss the strategy, risk management, and weather considerations for climbing these 8000m giants.
This is a free event. Sign up online at mappyhour.org
