After being shutout for the first time this season, the St. Louis Blues wrap up their four-game road trip Wednesday in Denver against the streaky Colorado Avalanche inside Ball Arena. The Avalanche opened the season on a six-game winning streak, but have been shutout in back-to-back games and hope to avoid a third consecutive loss tonight as they return to play on home ice for the first time in 11 days. Colorado winger Mikko Rantanen tallied four points in the last Avalanche win last Tuesday, but has been held without a point in consecutive games for the first time since mid-March.

Colorado’s third ranked penalty kill should be dominant tonight against the 32nd ranked power play in the NHL, as the Blues have converted only once on the power play in 21 opportunities with the man advantage. The Avalanche penalty killing unit has allowed just two goals in 38 chances against their opponent’s power play.
Blues winger Brandon Saad is the only St. Louis skater with more than one goal this season. Saad, in his 14th NHL season, scored 19 goals for the Blues last season.
Colorado has been dominant in this series, winning 23 of 29 dating back to Jan. 2020, including knocking the Blues out of the playoffs in 2021 and 2022.
