30th Annual Garden Open House
The Arvada Community Garden is celebrating their 58th year of service to the Arvada community. They will be holding their 30th Annual Open House on Saturday August 16th from 11:00 A.M. until 2:00 P.M. at the Community Garden.
Schedule:
11:00 a.m. Opening and first garden tour begins and then about every 30 minutes
11:30 a.m. First door prize drawing and then about every 30 - 45 minutes
12:00 p.m. Lunch will be served.
1:30 p.m. Final door prizes, put-n-take table, ballots and tours
This year’s gardeners will be bringing in their favorite dish made from items grown in their gardens to share with the public. These items will include many cultural dishes from our diverse group of gardeners. The PUT-N-TAKE Table will be open – you bring something from your garden to PUT on the table and/or then TAKE something that someone else has left. The garden will supply drinks and other refreshments, will be making hot dogs and brats on the grill, will cook their famous plot-to-pot corn-on-the-cob, will provide tours of the community garden, and will offer advice on gardening in Arvada’s climate. There will also be a contest where attendees will be the judges and will select the best looking garden plot from among all the plots for the Gold, Silver, Bronze and New Gardener Shovel Awards. Many local merchants have also donated items to be given out as gate (door) prizes and there will be free gifts for the kids, a scavenger hunt among the plots in the garden and if you can answer a gardening question you will receive free vegetable and flower seeds from the seed library and/or free herb or flower plants grown in the greenhouse.
