The Buffalo Bill Museum and Grave will mark Cody’s birthday with a free history program entitled "The Culture of Celebrity: Buffalo Bill in England-Oscar Wilde in America" in the Foss Auditorium of the American Mountaineering Center in Golden, Colorado, on Monday, February 27 at 6:30 pm.
Buffalo Bill boasted about having tea with playwright and poet Oscar Wilde and his wife Constance at their home in London. Hear how a rare piece of ephemera in the museum’s collection inspired historian Gregory Hinton to research Cody’s time in England and Wilde’s lecture tour of America.
Gregory Hinton is a nationally renowned playwright, historian, and keynote lecturer. Hinton’s work explores diverse cultural themes and how they relate to the community-at-large. A son of the rural Rocky Mountain West, Hinton devotes his energies to Out West™, his national museum program series offering lectures, films, plays and gallery exhibitions dedicated to shining a light on LGBTQ history and culture in the American West.
Doors open at 6pm. Admission is free but registration is highly recommended to ensure a seat.
