Opening Reception for CLOUDS: Beyond the Dew Point (An Invitational Exhibition)

Valley House Gallery in North Dallas presents the Invitational Exhibition "CLOUDS: Beyond the Dew Point" from August 1 through September 19, 2026. The Opening Reception is Saturday, August 1, 5:00pm-7:00pm, at Valley House Gallery, 6616 Spring Valley Road (between Preston and Hillcrest), Dallas, Texas. Take a little water vapor, cool it down to the dew point, provide some particulate matter for the dew to cling to, and bingo—you have a cloud. This simple cycle happens every day, and depending on the variables, clouds form at different altitudes and take on many different shapes. Long part of human mythology, art, and religion, clouds were illustrated in rock art found on the Colorado Plateau dating back to 1275 CE. Even though we now have a more scientific understanding of why clouds form, contemporary artists continue to be intrigued by, and feel the need to explore, these beautiful natural phenomena. This exhibition includes over 50 artists who have made clouds an element in their artistic expression with works spanning 150 years from 1876 to 2026. Early French, British, and American artists will be exhibited along with Early Texas and Contemporary artists working in painting, drawing, photography, and printmaking.
