The Texas Department of Transportation will host an in-person public meeting from 5-7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 15, on the proposed improvements along U.S. Highway 287 from U.S. Highway 67 to Business 287, through Dallas and Ellis counties. The meeting will be held at the Midlothian Conference Center, 1 Community Circle Drive.
Per TxDOT information, the project is located north of Waxahachie and includes constructing new two-lane northbound and southbound U.S. 287 frontage roads with one 6-foot sidewalk on the southbound side and a 10-foot shared-use path for bicyclists and pedestrians on the northbound side, new access ramps and new grade-separated interchanges. The project is about 8.3 miles. The existing right of way is 250 feet and the proposed right of way ranges between 274 and 342 feet.
More information can be found online at http://www.keepitmovingdallas.com/projects/us-highways/US287MidlothianEast.
The enhancements are anticipated to begin in 2028.
Project managers and other TxDOT personnel will be on hand to answer residents’ questions.
