Opening Reception for Between Worlds

Dallas, TX | Laura Rathe Fine Art is pleased to announce Between Worlds, a joint exhibition featuring new works by Christy Lee Rogers and Lucrecia Waggoner. The opening reception will take place on October 3, 2026, from 4:00 – 7:00 PM at the Dallas Design District location. Lucrecia Waggoner will be in attendance. Between Worlds brings together two artists working in vastly different mediums: Waggoner through sculptural porcelain and Rogers through underwater photography. Through material, light, and movement, the exhibition explores the space between the physical and the imagined, transforming the tangible into something otherworldly. Waggoner’s porcelain installations drift across the wall, while Rogers’ submerged figures appear to exist outside the boundaries of gravity and time. In dialogue, their works move between earth and water, stillness and motion, inviting viewers into a world that feels both familiar and somehow beyond reach. Christy Lee Rogers creates painterly photographic works entirely underwater, using the currents and refraction of water to render human figures in luminous, dreamlike compositions. Photographed at night in illuminated pools, her subjects are submerged beneath the surface as flowing fabrics, bodies, and light intertwine in moments that exist only for an instant. Rogers captures these elusive scenes, allowing the natural distortion of water to create images often compared to the drama and intensity of Baroque painting. Rich in color and visual depth, her photographs blur the boundaries between photography and painting, reality and illusion. Through water, Rogers creates a realm where figures appear suspended between the earthly and the divine. Working primarily in porcelain, Lucrecia Waggoner creates intricate wall installations composed of hand-formed vessels. Drawing inspiration from nature, ancient civilizations, and the enduring relationship between humanity and the earth, Waggoner transforms porcelain into expansive compositions that unfold rhythmically across their surroundings. Each individual element bears the subtle variations of the artist’s hand. Together they form a larger, unified, presence reminiscent of organic formations, celestial patterns, or landscapes viewed from afar. Through repetition, texture, and the interplay of light and shadow, Waggoner elevates a material rooted in the earth into sculptural works that feel meditative, timeless, and weightless. In Between Worlds, the artists’ contrasting mediums find harmony. Waggoner gives permanence to delicate forms, while Rogers captures moments that disappear almost as quickly as they are created. One sculpts porcelain through rhythm and form; the other creates imagery through fluidity and chance. Together, their works exist between what is solid and what is fluid, what can be held and what can only be experienced, revealing beauty in the threshold between worlds. Between Worlds will be on view through November 6th, 2026.
