Before joining forces, Kate Vargas and Eric McFadden, the duo behind Sgt. Splendor, were already formidable solo artists, chalking up acclaim and amassing an impressive resume.
As McFadden says, “Our styles have always been complementary and Tom Waits’ music has always been a point of connection.” Their Southwestern upbringing comes through – that sort of mysterious desert thing, with a carnivalesque Waits-ian vibe.
