April is National Poetry Month: Celebrate with Art Embraces Poetry Featuring Poet Ophelia Leong

Lamorinda Arts Council invites you to celebrate April National Poetry Month with Poet Ophelia Leong who will read "The Guardian of Layette Reservoir." among other works. Lafayette Public Art Committee hosts Bay Area Studio Artists (BASA) exhibit “A Show of Hands” through May 5 at Town Hall Theatre. BASA member Lassie Colebourn will speak about the show. LAC Co-Chair and Board President Sue Farmer will play the piano and sing to demonstrate how poetry can become lyrics when set to music. Each presenter will be introduced by Co-Chair and Emcee Sue Farmer and has 10 minutes to speak after which a short Q&A session with the audience occurs. A No Host Bar is available for guests to purchase drinks and snacks. The second Art Embraces Poetry is scheduled for July 15 from 1:30 - 3:30 pm. Artist David Lew's "Freedom of Abstraction" exhibit uses textures and colors to effect fluid movement throughout his work. Lew's exhibit runs from June 26 to August 4.
