Join us for a magical evening, mindfully connecting with the incredibly rare Full Blue Supermoon!
A blue supermoon occurs only once every 10 years. I can’t think of a better way to experience it than with an unobstructed, front-row view from the hilltops of Sibley Regional Volcanic Preserve.
Escape to the sanctuary of a mystical ancient volcano, breathe crisp, clean air…and allow a sense of awe to wash over you as the light of the moon slowly expands overhead.
Imagine…
Releasing and unloading, as your body relaxes into the current moment.
Your mind quieting, so you can hear your inner guidance and the wisdom of the moon.
Receiving nature’s reminder that everything is actually ok, something greater is at work here, and we are part of it.
Gathering in sacred community to connect with yourself, other humans, and the more-than-human-world.
Feeling happier and more hopeful about the future.
Sibley Volcanic Preserve has a wide-open view of the sky, which makes it a perfect place to connect with the moon. For just a few hours, close to home, give yourself the gift of nourishment and inspiration in nature. With all of life’s challenges, we need this rejuvenation more than ever.
What We’ll Do
There is nothing for you to do but show up! Dawn will co-create a sacred space to help you slow down and connect with yourself, the divine, and the more-than-human world.
Dawn will guide you through simple practices to help you quiet your mind, calm your nervous system, and mindfully explore the textures, smells, sights and sounds of the natural world. We’ll immerse ourselves in nature, while also fostering community among other humans who feel connected to and care about the earth.
This Nourish in Nature experience includes:
A guided, mindful walk in nature
Guided meditations, explorations and other experiential activities to connect with the magic of the moon
“Forest bathing” – an opportunity to take in the natural world using all of our senses
Group connection and sharing
Sharing healthy, nutritious snacks together (some provided, or bring your own as you feel comfortable)
Education about the land, native people and the moon
What We Won't Do:
We will not be “working out.” We will be both moving and stopping and cover a total distance of about 2 miles over 2 hours.
We won’t be using our phones or screens
We won’t be stressing, striving or strategizing about anything
Join us to experience the healing, restorative and magical power of the moon! It’s a time to disconnect from technology, life’s demands and worries…and to reconnect with yourself, others, and the natural world.
Be sure to register in advance so we can send you specific details on the meeting point and more.
**PRE-REGISTRATION REQUIRED BY 7 P.M. ON SUNDAY 08/18/23 **
Must be able to navigate a dirt path with 2-3 short uphills/downhills. We will not be walking the whole time. You should be in good enough shape to walk 2 miles in total. Suitable for mindful teens and older. Wear suitable shoes for dirt trail (some tread on soles, no dress shoes or flip flops), and bring water. There is not a lot of tree cover, and it can sometimes be very windy -- please bring an extra layer – or two - to be comfortable in changing weather, and while walking or sitting. Also plan for the possibility of 5+ degrees cooler than the weather is forecasting for Oakland.
