Valory Mitchell graduated from the University of California, Berkeley, in 1983, with a Ph.D. in psychology. As a graduate student, she joined the Mills Study of Adult Development, and has continued to work on that study across 40 years. At the same time, she was faculty at Alliant University, where she rose to the rank of Distinguished Professor and was coordinator of the school's Institute for the Psychology of Women, its Gender Studies program, and its Social Justice Track. She has published in many academic journals, including several articles about the Mills study, which is now the largest and longest academic study of women's development and the focus of the book Women on the River of Life. She also has a practice of psychotherapy in Berkeley.
Plan now to celebrate International Women’s Day and Women’s History Month in March 2023 with these powerful leaders, achievers, and adventurers.
