WeRISE hosts Zoom talk with Jerry Craft, New Kid author, on 4/30/24 at 7:00-8:00PM

Join WeRISE for a stimulating online conversation with New Kid author, Jerry Craft. Jerry Craft is one of a few Black professional cartoonists in the United States. His many distinctions include winning the Newbery Medal (2020), the Kirkus Prize for Young Readers’ Literature (2019) and the Coretta Scott King Author Award for the most outstanding work by an African American writer (2020). This is WeRISE’s 3rd WeREAD event. WeREAD is an annual program aimed at facilitating community-wide conversations about racial equity and the pursuit of racial justice, something particularly important now as our country struggles to discuss sensitive issues. WeRISE is a grassroots organization whose mission is to eradicate individual and structural racism in the greater Westerville community. This program was made possible, in part, by Ohio Humanities, a nonprofit organization that shares stories to spark conversations and inspire ideas, and the National Endowment for the Humanities: Democracy demands wisdom. Any views, findings, conclusions or recommendations expressed in this program do not necessarily represent those of Ohio Humanities or the National Endowment for the Humanities. Further support provided by Westerville Public Library, Birdie Books, Java Central Café and Roaster, St. Matthew’s Epsicopal Church, and The City of Westerville Community Fund.
