Mementos Art Show
Columbus-based pop artist Bread, supported by a grant from the Greater Columbus Arts Council, will debut Mementos, a one-day only immersive pop art exhibition at Reliable on High during Clintonville’s Jamboree on Friday, September 19, 2025 from 5 to 10 PM.
From 5 to 8 PM, the gallery will open its doors for a free interactive gallery experience featuring 12 large-scale paintings by Bread, alongside works from two guest artists. At 8 PM, the show shifts: acclaimed producer and DJ, JaySwifa, will transform the gallery into a party that runs until 10 PM.
The show will also feature the artists Tal’s Pottery Place and Kolor Different. Tal’s Pottery Place has been getting attention on tik tok for her tiny pot scavenger hunt. She will exhibit some of her tiny pots. Kolor Different is an oil painter that makes striking portraits.
About the Exhibition
Mementos is a focused exploration of ordinary objects made extraordinary. Bread enlarges familiar items, stripping them of their casual scale and forcing viewers to confront them anew. But the real meaning is in the stories, each painting was created for an individual who inspired the object. Visitors will hear those stories directly, through an audio-visual experience in the voices of the muses themselves.
Without these lived connections, the works are simply paintings of objects. With them, they become markers of memory, intimacy, and identity.
None of the paintings are for sale and they were all produced between 2024 and 2025. All of the paintings featured in Mementos are borrowed from the people who inspired them with the stories behind the objects. The audio-visual experience will immerse viewers by connecting the story behind the object. This collection of paintings is brought together to demonstrate Bread’s vision for elevating objects into powerful mementos of human experience.
