You Matter: An Evening of Rock and Resources
John Estep and Mach5 Music present You Matter: An Evening of Rock and Resources, a benefit concert raising money for Mental Health America of Ohio and the Franklin County Suicide Prevention Coalition.
The struggles of close friends and family and the difficulties some faced finding resources and fighting stigma around mental health moved Estep to found You Matter as a way to help locally. Partnering with MHA, Estep hopes to raise awareness as well as funds. MHA will be on hand during the event providing education about the services and resources available through their organization.
Estep has assembled local musicians Brian Clash, Glare, Breaking Badfinger, Colin Gawel & Friends and Electro Cult Circus to perform songs by musicians and artists affected by mental health and suicide. Some of these artists include Phil Ochs, Badfinger, Ronald Koal, Montrose, INXS, Nirvana, Soundgarden and Joy Division among others.
Guest Emcee is Randy Malloy from WWCD Radio.
“Many of the artists we are remembering did not have access or know where to get help at the time” says Estep. “Everybody knows somebody struggling with mental health. That somebody might be you. You are not alone, you matter!”
