By 13, she was already a headliner at political and cultural events, channeling the fire of Whitney Houston and the soul of Nina Simone. Her rendition of “I Will Always Love You” earned this unforgettable praise from author J. Everett Prewitt: “I like Melrose Eve’s rendition better than Whitney Houston’s.” She’s performed the national anthem for the Cleveland Guardians, and recently lit up the stage at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
