An Afternoon with Author Tamara Bundy

About Like Nesting Dolls: Twelve-year-old Tasha and six-year-old Irina have nothing in common -except for the fact they shared a hospital room in Russia. Yet, somehow their differences -including a language barrier -isn't what Tasha recalls when she returns home to Ohio. She remembers the kind and compassionate orphan girl, recovering from her cleft palate surgery, who helped her through her pain of not just healing from her appendectomy but also her grieving. Now home, Tasha must find a way to help Irina get adopted before she is forever sent to a place where finding a home would no longer be an option. But how can she possibly help her new friend from another country when she couldn't even save her own brother? Tamara Bundy is an author of both fiction and non-fiction books. Her middle grade novels, Walking With Miss Millie and Pixie Pushes On (Nancy Paulsen Books) have won multiple awards including the Ohioana Award for Middle grade/Young Adult Fiction and have landed on several state reading lists. Her debut picture book, Lullaby Prayer (HarperCollins Christian) is a well-love bedtime treasure for little ones and parents alike. Tamara received her BS in Education from The Ohio State University and her Masters in Writing from Miami University. She is a former columnist for the Cincinnati Post–which is where the story of a young orphan girl in need first touched her life. This encounter inspired her latest middle grade novel Like Nesting Dolls. Irina Berberich spent the first six years of her life in a Russian orphanage before being adopted by a Kentucky family. She endured multiple surgeries throughout her childhood to correct her cleft pallet and jaw. Irina graduated from Northern Kentucky University in 2020. She taught preschool for twelve years and is now a dog handler. Irina shares her joy of life with her two dogs and one cat.
