The Rolston String Quartet takes its name from Canadian violinist Thomas Rolston, founder and longtime director of the Banff Centre's Music and Sound Programs. First-prize winner of the 2016 Banff International String Quartet Competition, and the 2018 recipient and first international ensemble chosen for Chamber Music America's prestigious Cleveland Quartet Award, the quartet continues to receive acclamation and recognition for musical excellence.
Michael Stephen Brown has been described as "one of the leading figures in the current renaissance of performer-composers" (The New York Times). His unique artistry is reflected in his creative approach to programming, which often interweaves the classics and his own compositions.
