Family Birdwatching in the Gardens
Bring the whole family for a special birdwatching adventure during Historic Columbia's Fall Plant Sale! Join local birder John Tjaarda and Historic Columbia Assistant Horticulturalist Jake Armstrong for a fun, guided exploration of the Hampton-Preston Gardens as you discover the resident and migratory birds that call Columbia home. Participants will learn how to identify birds by sight, sound, and behavior while exploring one of the city's most beautiful historic green spaces.
In addition to the guided birdwatching experience, families will enjoy a hands-on, bird-themed craft that's perfect for young nature enthusiasts.
This program is open to bird lovers of all ages, and children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Binoculars are encouraged but not required. Please meet at the Boyd Foundation Horticultural Center (greenhouse), located on the northwest section of the Hampton-Preston Mansion grounds.
