Bierkeller Canalfest

Columbia’s Original Riverfront Brewery and Biergarten, Bierkeller Columbia, will hold its annual CanalFest starting Saturday, May 17, from 12 until 9 pm, and continuing Sunday, May 18, from 12 until 7 pm. Now in its second year, Bierkeller’s CanalFest celebration brings together businesses, residents, and out-of-town visitors to celebrate the history, culture, and current and future possibilities presented by this central fixture to our city. And how do we celebrate? With local organizations, city representatives, and, of course, lots of bier, food, music...and you! “One of our main goals at Bierkeller,” explains owner Scott Burgess, is to honor our hometown and its many unique cultural, geographic, and historical features. Literally at the center of all of this are the rivers and, in particular, the historic Columbia Canal.” While still in its nascent stages, Bierkeller envisions lots of growth for this festival. So come and celebrate the start of something big! The event is FREE to attend and opens at noon. Various vendors will be on hand from 12:00-6:00 on Saturday; Music Sodas, non-alcoholic beers, wines, and other beverages will also be on hand. “Come learn about our city, enjoy the vistas, and be a part of Columbia history: past, present, and future,” says Burgess.
