A Moveable Feast with world-renowned Chef William Dissen

USC’s School of Hospitality and Tourism Management presents A Moveable Feast with world-renowned Chef William Dissen on Thursday, Feb. 23, at 5:30 p.m. at the Close-Hipp building on the USC Columbia campus. Chef Dissen will prepare a five-course meal in an intimate setting and give live demonstrations of two courses. Your hosts for the evening, School of Hospitality and Tourism Management Director Dr. Robin DiPietro, and Wine and Beverage Institute Director, Dr. Sandy Strick, will welcome you to a reception, featuring seasonal cocktails created by the Institute’s Assistant Director, Dr. Scott T. Taylor, Jr. Wines to accompany each course will be selected by Gerald L. “Jerry” Baxter of Alexander Valley Vineyards, working closely with Chef Dissen. Mr. Baxter will share his expert knowledge of the wines as they are served. Chef Dissen, a USC alumnus (Master of International Hospitality and Tourism Management, ‘06) is a renowned chef and culinary diplomat, restaurateur, published author, and early pioneer of the farm-to-table and ocean sustainability movements in the Southeastern United States Appalachian region. He was awarded “Green Chef of the Year” two years in a row by FORTUNE Magazine, and currently owns three high-end farm-to-table restaurant concepts: The Market Place in Asheville, N.C., Billy D’s Fried Chicken at The North Carolina Zoo, and Haymaker in uptown Charlotte, N.C. In 2021, Chef Dissen faced off and beat Celebrity Chef Gordon Ramsay on National Geographic, landing Dissen the title “Most Sustainable Chef in the World.” Alexander Valley Vineyards, the evening’s wine sponsor, is a family-owned and operated winery located in the heart of Sonoma's Alexander Valley, on the historic site originally settled in the 1840s by valley namesake Cyrus Alexander. Tickets for A Moveable Feast are $250 per person (+fees), and 80% of proceeds will go directly to student scholarships in USC’s School of Hospitality and Tourism Management. A limited number of seats are available, so reserve yours now!
