In recent weeks, the new Israeli government has been promoting legislation towards what it calls "judicial reform". Many in Israel have argued that this is a well-orchestrated plan to destroy Israel's Separation of Powers. The current Israeli Chief Justice, Hon. Esther Chayut, called this plan a "lethal blow" to Israel's independent judiciary. According to Prof. Daniel Kahnaman, a Nobel Laureate considered one of the world's experts on decision making. "This is the end of Israel's Democracy." A civil protest movement - the likes of which Israel has never experienced - has emerged, as hundreds of thousands take to the streets every week in protest. What are these proposed laws, and what impact will they have? Join Professor Doron Kalir, who was born, raised, studied and taught law in Israel, and argued
several cases before its Supreme Court, for a discussion of the reasons for, and the content of, these reforms. His presentation will be followed by a 30-minute Q&A session.
