Wine4Life is going to be a great wine tasting, wine pull, and fundraiser, at BurkleHagen Studios, 36th and Payne, where they have built out an amazing space in an old industrial building, and will be catered by Sophie La Gourmand. Shelley Taxel, Sommelier and Wine Buyer at The Wine Spot, Cleveland Heights, and her rep partners have curated 24 fantastic wines, under four themes, that all focus on small production, rare, and unique wine makers. There is also a VIP tasting with Shelley before the party, with truly incredible and rare bottles including back vintage Harlan and Coglin, 1971 Riesling, 2003 Dom Perignon, Coche-Dury White Burgundy and MORE.
The cause is The Jed Ian Cancer Foundation. Jed Taxel passed from a rare cancer six years ago, and his parents started a foundation in his name to support better research and outcomes in rare cancers. 25% of all cancers diagnosed are classified as rare, but they are often a death sentence because they are generally underfunded and under researched. This year, Dr Gary Schwartz, who leads our medical advisory board, moved from Columbia in NYC, to Cleveland to be the head of the Case Comprehensive Cancer Center. Our family foundation has committed to raising 5 Million dollars in the next five years to support new research at Case and help change the way that rare cancers are treated. This party is the kick off here in Cleveland of that campaign, and we are looking to raise $100,000.
