Treats and Totality

The closest total eclipse to the Cincinnati area for the next 500 years will occur on Monday, April 8. Before this twice-in-a-millennium event, join Dr. Nick Abel, professor of physics and astronomy, for a celebration of all things eclipses. The free program, sponsored by the UC Clermont Sustainability Committee, will be held on Thursday, April 4, in Snyder S-142. Space-themed treats will be available starting at 6:45 p.m. with the program beginning at 7:30 p.m. • Why are eclipses so rare? • What to expect on April 8? • Where to go for the best viewing? Dr. Abel will answer all these questions, discuss the history of eclipses, their scientific and cultural importance, along with the how and when to observe on April 8. Eclipse glasses will be provided (first come, first served, and limit of 2 per family). Afterwards, Dr. Abel will answer any questions from the audience regarding eclipses, followed immediately by telescope observing (weather permitting). Please bring your family and join us for this informative, entertaining, and free event. Register on Eventbrite by April 2.
