Through his journey, he learned lessons on preparation, humility, race relations and nature’s wild unpredictability, lessons he wrote about in his memoir, "The Unlikely Thru-Hiker." Derick will join Adventure Crew on Friday, February 7 for an inspiring evening at the beautifully renovated Mercantile Library. Adventure Crew’s RAD (Raising Access and Diversity) Women's Collective is hosting Derick as a kickoff to its speaker series.
