Heartland Horror - ‘The Devil You Know’ Official Trailer
SYNOPSIS
A couple looking for a getaway rents a secluded cabin in the woods. What begins as a romantic
retreat quickly turns into a nightmare when they realize that they are being hunted by a group of
mysterious, masked figures. They must fight for survival in a house that holds a dark, cult-driven
history.
“The Devil You Know” ties into one of my short films from 2015, “The Lamb”. I've been living in
this world for the past ten years, and I’m beyond excited to finally be able to show people what’s
been hiding in my head.” - Shawn Burkett
The film is Executive Produced by Charles Clendenin (Stranded / Project: Mothman), P.J Starks
(The Barn part 3 / New Fears Eve / 13 Slays Till X-Mas), and Chris Gierowski (Don’t F*** In the
Woods / Sweetest Day / McCurdy Point).
Gierowski, who frequently collaborates with Burkett as a producer, says “Shawn was already a
great filmmaker when I met him over a decade ago. He continues to make great strides in his
craft and big waves in the indie horror movie world. This project has Shawn’s heart and soul and
it’s going to be a real banger!”
Burkett continues, “This film was a massive undertaking. But with the right cast and crew,
anything can be done. No matter the budget. We only had $14,000, and you can see where
every penny went. It was one of the best times of my life.”
This will be Burkett’s 8th feature film, and fourth script co-written by Cheyenne Gordon.
The film stars Kenzie Phillips (Don’t F*** In The Woods 2), Dale Miller (Halloween “2018” /
Stranded / The Wicked One), Jason Crowe (The Bad Man / Mr. Buzzkill / Harvest Lake),
Joey Mann (XXX-Mas / Phantom Fun-World / Mr. Buzzkill), Daniel John Kearney (Crust /
Mothman / The Boy From Below)
