Cuisine, Culture & Community: A Global Celebration Of Women & Food


Philadelphia may be The City of Brotherly Love, but on May 4, 2013, it's the Dames who'll be running the show. The Culinary Show that is. Collectively known as Les Dames d'Escoffier International (LDEI) Philadelphia, this talented and philanthropic group of chefs, restaurateurs, cookbook authors, bloggers, TV and radio personalities, wine and spirits specialists, educators, nutritionists and farmers is hosting a fundraiser benefiting its Green Tables and Scholarship program. Building on 2011's 1-day Symposium, which featured Judy Wicks as keynote, Chapter President Dame Kathy Gold presents this year's program, which will engage a larger, more diverse audience of food enthusiasts. This year's presenters include flavor expert, Marcie Pelchat (Monell Chemical Senses Center); Amy Hoopes, Chief Marketing Officer, EVP, Global Sales of Wente Family Estates Vineyards; Dame Angie Brown, who will host a panel, 'Breaking the Color Barrier in the Kitchen,' featuring Chef Tia McDonald (The Vetri Foundation for Children) and Delilah Winder; Georges Perrier and Charlotte Calmels (Bibou), panelists for 'Women and Their Role in the French Kitchen,' led by Dame Michele Haines (Spring Mill Cafe); and Chef Marta Quintana who will teach a hands-on Cuban cooking class.
