Get ready for an unforgettable evening of musical enchantment as the Young Professionals' Choral Collective (YPCC) presents "Lune Noire" at the historic Memorial Hall together with Artistic Partner Queen City Cabaret featuring local music phenoms Matthew Umphreys and Sarah Folsom.
Directed by Matthew Moquin-Lee and accompanied by Matthew Umphreys, the YPCC Lune Noire repertoire includes nighttime harmonies from the last century. Audience members will be transported to classic nightclubs with familiar tunes including ‘Sing, Sing, Sing’ and ‘Moon River.’ The dream world will emerge with Rhineberger’s lullaby, 'Abendlied,' and calls to dream of more with ‘Dream a Little Dream’ and U2’s reflective ‘MLK.’ With the uplifting melodies of ‘Somewhere Over the Rainbow,’ ‘Beginning to See the Light,’ and ‘Unclouded Day,’ woven throughout the evening, audience members will experience the light that shatters darkness.
YPCC artistic partner Queen City Cabaret will further captivate the audience with vintage jazz tunes that include beloved classics such as 'Beginning to See the Light' (Duke Ellington) and 'Dream a Little Dream' (Andrew/Schwandt), mixed with contemporary works, including 'Make You Feel My Love' (Bob Dylan, Adele).
The Young Professionals Choral Collective is an innovative choir that celebrates community, culture, and singing in unique spaces. A registered nonprofit organization, YPCC cultivates an inclusive community through the joyful experience of choral music. YPCC singers have contributed to the Cincinnati arts scene with memorable choral performances and community engagement for nearly 12 years.
Queen City Cabaret is a Cincinnati-based arts organization and musical duo that brings captivating performances of vintage jazz and pop to venues across the country. Founded by professional musicians Sarah Folsom and Matthew Umphreys in 2018, QCC celebrates the beloved songs and stories of 20th century American commercial music with intimate cabarets, large-scale concerts, and everything in between.
