WARMTH Culture invites you to the 3rd Annual Free People's Party on Sunday, June 22nd, from 8 PM to midnight at Lost & Found in OTR. This vibrant gathering honors the intersections of Black and queer communities through music, movement, and intentional joy.
This year’s theme, "Joy as an Act of Resistance and Release," calls us to create moments of liberation in the face of growing social and political tension. During the height of the AIDS crisis, communities deeply impacted by loss and discrimination found strength in coming together. Reflecting on that legacy, a quote from the era reminds us of joy’s vital role in survival:
"We buried our friends in the morning, we protested in the afternoon, and we danced all night. The dance kept us in the fight because it was the dance we were fighting for."
DJ Rah D (Detroit) returns, teaming up with Louisville’s DJ DNasti for a night of soulful sounds and collective release. Expect a wide-ranging sonic journey through House, Soul, Hip Hop, Funk, Disco, Techno, Jazz, and R&B - music that moves the body and lifts the spirit.
After spotlighting the roots of Black House music in our first year and honoring our ancestors in year two, this year is about releasing the heaviness we carry, holding each other close, and making room for joy. We’re once again collaborating with Lost & Found, whose support and space have helped shape this event into something deeply meaningful that we look forward to each year.
“When our doors opened almost six years ago, we knew the community would tell us who it needed us to be. Lost & Found has never been about four walls or any one person. It’s the people who bring it to life. Events like the Free People’s Party breathe spirit into our space and remind us why we’re here. Partnering with WARMTH Culture is an honor. It’s a night of radical joy, resistance, and belonging. We’re proud to be a part of that story.”

Join us to wrap up a weekend of Juneteenth celebrations and Pride Month in community, joy, and freedom.
Why This Matters: Joy and resistance go hand in hand. In a world that often tries to dull or erase our light, coming together to dance, connect, and celebrate is a necessary act of care and defiance. The Free People’s Party is a space where we remember that being free, being seen, and being joyful are things worth fighting for.
