Join us for the Opening Reception of Year of the Gentleman: Redefining Modern Excellence on Saturday, August 2 from 6–8 pm at Kennedy Heights Arts Center's Lindner Gallery. This powerful solo exhibition by Cincinnati-based photographer — and Kennedy Heights Arts Center staff member — Shawndale Thomas presents a striking redefinition of modern masculinity through high-fashion portraiture.
Year of the Gentleman features a compelling collection of black-and-white and color photographs that highlight men of various ages and ethnicities in moments of service, mentorship, and quiet leadership. Each portrait offers a glimpse into the everyday acts of kindness, guidance, and integrity that define true gentlemanliness today — challenging outdated stereotypes and celebrating the depth and complexity of the modern man.
Through the lens of fashion-forward photography, Thomas bridges style and substance, proving that excellence is not just about how you present yourself, but how you show up for others. The exhibition invites viewers to reconsider traditional narratives of masculinity and reflect on how power, presence, and compassion coexist.
Enjoy live music by DJ MicDrop, light refreshments, and an opportunity to meet the artist and connect with community members during this inspiring evening. The event is free and open to the public.
Year of the Gentleman is on view through October 2, 2025, and is presented in support of Christian Bradley and Fly 4 the Low & Fly Society LLC.
We invite all guests to come dressed in your excellence — whatever that means to you — and help us celebrate the launch of this impactful and thought-provoking exhibition.
