Keehner Park Concert Series
The Keehner Park Concert Series celebrates 26 years in 2023 to coincide with West Chester Township’s bicentennial anniversary.
Regularly occurring music and art performances in West Chester Township parks got their start, in earnest, on September 1, 1997 when West Chester Symphony Orchestra made its inaugural debut at the grand opening celebration of the Keehner Park Amphitheater. And the rest, as they say, is history.
Today, two concert series run concurrently each summer in West Chester, providing residents of all ages a chance to gather and connect twice a week. Summer concerts are family-friendly and free to attend.
The Takeover presented by First Financial Bank provides a big-production, party atmosphere in a city-like setting every Thursday night on The Square @ Union Centre. A more relaxed Saturday night series at Keehner Park offers respite from the hustle-and-bustle of the busy workweek in a serene, back-to-basics atmosphere on the pavilion lawn of the 123-acre park neatly nestled within the forest that follows the east fork of the Mill Creek. Â
The Keehner Park Concert Series at 7211 Barret Road meets 7 to 9 p.m. most Saturdays. Following two-and-a-half decades of tradition, this year’s schedule includes two patriotic performances by the West Chester Symphony Orchestra.
Opening night at the Keehner Park Concert Series includes a free ice cream social at intermission as part of the larger West Chester Founders’ Day Weekend event. Plan to mark 200 years with us at celebrations happening all across our community June 1-4, 2023.
Saturday guests are encouraged to pack a picnic for performances, but alcohol is not allowed.
