“Just then, I heard a splash and then a loud CROAK.”
A child and grandmother enjoy a long, fun-filled day on the lake fishing and swimming. But the best is yet to come when the pair ventures out after dark to go frog hunting at the pond.
Story has always been important to Lynne Williams Reckman. As a child and teenager, she was the straggler at the dinner table listening to the adults share stories, especially during visits with relatives who lived far away. Then as a clinical social worker for families with young children, Lynne honed her listening skills, encouraging the sharing of stories for healing.
As a parent, Lynne prioritized listening again. She became a keen observer and a delighted participant in the adventures of her two children. When they were between four and ten years old, a favorite activity occurred with their grandmother at her home; frog hunting, which inspired this story.
