Women's Intro to Acting Class w/ Miranda McGee

In this 7-week beginner level class we will explore the core components of an actor's toolbox: physicality, vocal technique, character creation, ensemble work and text analysis. Through a variety of exercises created by different practitioners (Laban, Kaiser, Stanislavski) we will create a foundation for each actor to work from individually and as an ensemble. Class includes a short invite-only performance of a series of scenelets (very short scenes) on the last class that students may invite friends or family to in the 7th week. Enroll soon for early-bird pricing: $195 until June 15. After June 15, enrollment is $235. Class meeting times are as follows: Monday, July 15 7-9pm Monday, July 22 7-9pm Monday, July 29 7-9pm Monday, August 5 7-9pm Monday, August 12 7-9pm Monday, August 19 7-9pm Monday, August 26 7-9pm Class meets at Hoffner Lodge in Northside in Cincinnati, Ohio. Reach out to Alphas Artistic Director Patricia Mullins at [email protected] or on social media on IG & FB: @alphas_improv About The Instructor: Miranda is originally from Melbourne, Australia and received a drama scholarship to study in the US. After graduating from Trinity University, she taught and acted around the nation at many theatres including The Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey and Long Wharf Theatre before landing at her now-home (and favorite place!), Cincinnati, as a resident ensemble member at Cincinnati Shakespeare Company. During her 15 seasons at CSC, some of her favorite roles include Beatrice (Much Ado About Nothing), Bottom (A Midsummer Night's Dream) Lucy (Dracula) and director of the 2019 mainstage production of Macbeth. She also taught teen and adult acting classes and established the CSC Corporate Training Program. In addition, she has worked around town at Know Theatre, Playhouse in the Park, Madcap Puppets, Clifton Performance Theatre, the Covedale and the Carnegie. When not onstage, she is the Director of Tour Operations at American Legacy Tours. One of her favorite things is introducing fresh actors into this marvelous craft!
