Music in Kenwood returns for another season of wonderful music making! Join us for our opening program on Sunday, September 21, at 7 PM, at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church on 7701 Kenwood Road. Artists of an Uncertain Age features internationally acclaimed performers Amy Johnson, Vernon Hartman and Ian Axness, bringing you classic tunes from Broadway and the Great American Songbook, delivered with style and panache!
Enjoy a journey through the poignant, whimsical, haunting, humorous, wistful and altogether beautiful sounds of American popular music from the 1920’s through the 1940’s. You will hear the works of Broadway composing legends Richard Rodgers, George Gershwin, Cole Porter, Meredith Willson, Jerome Kern, Kurt Weill, and Frank Loesser. Also featured are “Tin Pan Alley” tunesmiths such as Harry Warren, Isham Jones, Johnny Mercer, Harold Arlen, Hoagy Carmichael and Gus Kahn, plus celebrated lyricists Oscar Hammerstein II, Lorenz Hart, Ira Gershwin, Maxwell Anderson, Al Dubin and even Ogden Nash!
The program is free and open to everyone. A free-will offering will be taken to help with the expenses of this concert event.
