The Cincinnati Civic Orchestra performs a free Holiday Concert Thursday, Dec. 7. “Holiday Favorites from Around the World” celebrates the season with recognizable selections including German Carol Festival, French Christmas Suite, Jesu Bambino from Italy and the Ukrainian Carol of the Bells.
The orchestra is honored to give our first performance of Christmas Eve/Sarajevo 12/24 originally produced by the Tran-Siberian Orchestra (Savatage) that describes the lone cello player who performed a forgotten Christmas carol every evening in the streets of war-torn Sarajevo.
From the USA, the orchestra will play the exciting music from The Polar Express. We will celebrate Thanksgiving with Thanksgiving Medley, written for the Civic Orchestra by Cincinnati composer Edward F. Howard. The concert includes Sleigh Ride, Festive Sounds of Hanukah, and Leroy Anderson’s A Christmas Festival.
The Cincinnati Civic Orchestra is one of our nation’s oldest all-volunteer symphony orchestras, performing its 95th season of free concerts for appreciative audiences throughout the Greater Cincinnati area.
