Don Quixote
What will you experience? A charming story, Spanish lovers, fiery dance, matadors, castanets and (of course!) an epic battle with a windmill.
What's it about? Based on Cervantes famous novel, the character of Don Quixote (pronounced key-ho-tay) embarks on an adventure after he dreams he's a knight in love with the perfect woman, Dulcinea. He takes his best friend, Sancho Panza and they end up meeting the ballet's heroine and hero, Kitri and Basilio. Problem is, Don Quixote thinks Kitri is Dulcinea, and Kitri's father wants her to marry an awful man instead of Basilio. Of course, the young lovers run off together and there are complications, a dream sequence, and and that famous battle with a windmill. Will true love triumph in the end? Hint: This is a fun ballet, so plan on a happy ending!
Who should see it? Anyone who loves ballet and flamenco, mixed with smiles and laughter. The production also features young performers from our Cincinnati Ballet Academy, so it's fun for all ages. With colorful sets and elaborate costumes, choreography from Anna-Marie Holmes and live music from the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra.
