Melvin J. Gravely II is the author of Dear White Friend: The Realities of Race, The Power of Relationships, and Our Path to Equity. Written in 2021, the book is an open, candid, and collegial series of letters to his white friends written to bring us to a better understanding and solutions on the delicate topic of race. During the literary event, the author will facilitate a candid conversation about our strategy for dealing with the issues of race in our country and our community. Most importantly, he will discuss what’s next for Black Americans in a nation moving toward repealing any progress that has been made. Gravely II is the majority owner & CEO of Triversity Construction Company, among the largest construction companies in the Cincinnati, Ohio, region. An active business and civic leader who has chaired the board of the Cincinnati USA Regional Chamber, Gravely served on the board of the United Way, was a founding board member of the Cincinnati Regional Economic Development Initiative (REDI Cincinnati), and vice chairperson of ArtsWave, the largest community arts fund in the nation.
