    What's Citizen Police Academy (CPA)? Citizen Police Academy is defined as a local government education program open to adults who want to learn about public service and public safety careers. The entry-level, accelerated civics course is offered in West Chester, Ohio twice per year. The West Chester Police Department invites you to experience what it really means to "serve and protect" within a sociable, welcoming environment. Network with your peers and get to know the local law enforcement professionals working police beats in the neighborhoods near you. West Chester Police CPA is compressed into 10 consecutive weeks, meeting once per week for three hours per night over a period of about two months. CPA is completely free. All interested participants must meet the requirements of the CPA application, available to complete online. APPLY TODAY The spring 2024 session meets Wednesday evenings. Classes begin March 27, 2024 with graduation on Wednesday, May 29, 2024. For more details and to apply online, click www.WestChesterOH.org/CPA. Non-resident applicants will be considered, but West Chester residents and those who work in West Chester have priority. Applicants must be least 21 years old. ABOUT CPA Taught by the Police Officers of West Chester Township, the Citizen Police Academy curriculum covers: Patrol Operations, Criminal Investigations, Special Operations, Traffic Investigations and much more. Participants will take aim in the department’s use-of-force training simulator; tour the Township jail and forensics lab; and experience a SWAT training exercise. The goal of Citizen Police Academy is fostering better harmony between police and the public. Graduates of past programs have included retirees, business leaders, members of the faith community, and elected officials. Even police recruits have taken the classes.
