La Fille Mal Gardée Classical Ballet
Each year Maywood Fine Arts' "Classical Ballet for New Audiences" brings one of the great classical ballets to life! This year, they will perform the comic ballet La Fille Mal Gardée at Yellow Box Theatre at Community Christian Church (1635 Emerson Lane, Naperville, IL 60540) on Saturday, March 9, 2024 starting at 7pm.
La Fille Mal Gardée is the humorous story of Lise and her lover Colas and their attempts to outsmart her mother's plans to marry her off to Alain, the dull-witted son of a rich landowner.
This concise and child-friendly version of the ballet features choreography by Jean Dauberval and music by L.J. Ferdinand Herold. Professional dancers from Chicago, Guatemala and New York perform the principal roles and 75 ballet students from Maywood Fine Arts make up the corps de ballet.
Tickets can be bought at the door or in advance by contacting Erin Dunn at (708)681-2788 . Tickets are $18 (adults), $12 (seniors), and $8 (children 12 and under).
