The Bartender's Bookshelf with Danny Childs ('Slow Drinks')
On Friday, June 7th, join James Beard Award-winning author and barman Toby Maloney as he welcomes Danny Childs, author of Slow Drinks (2024 James Beard Media Award Nominee - Beverage Book with Recipes) to The Violet Hour for "The Bartender’s Bookshelf," an evening dedicated to showcasing the talent of the JBF Media Awards. Together with The Violet Hour team, ethnobotanist Danny has crafted a specialty menu that pulls recipes and inspiration from Slow Drinks, his acclaimed guide to foraging and fermenting seasonal sodas, botanical cocktails, homemade wines, and more.
Throughout the night, signed copies of Slow Drinks will be available for purchase on-site with the help of local Chicago bookstore, The Book Cellar. RSVP for a private, invite-only hosted reception from 5:30pm to 7:30pm. Following the reception The Violet Hour will open its doors to the public, inviting local cocktail enthusiasts to meet Danny and Toby while grabbing a drink from the collaborative menu and a signed copy of the book while supplies last.
