Come celebrate 20 years of the Secret History of Chicago Music column in the Chicago Reader!
Written and drawn by Steve Krakow (aka Plastic Crimewave), nearly 500 SHoCM features have run, covering overlooked Windy City musicians from the worlds of jazz, soul, blues, experimental, psychedelic, punk and beyond.
We're honored to have soul deities Renaldo Domino and Jackie Ross performing, panel discussions with Reader contributor Aaron Cohen (author of Move On Up: Chicago Soul Music and Black Cultural Power), P. Michael and Travis of experimental Afrofuturist band Ono, synth soundscape pioneer Bil Vermette (who will also do a short performance), Reader editor in chief Salem Collo-Julin, and Reader music editor of 21 years Philip Montoro-- on panels moderated by Plastic Crimewave himself.

4:30 PM Doors
5-6 PM--Chicago Reader Panel with Salem Collo-Julin and Philip Montoro, talking to Steve Krakow about his work and process
6-7 PM: Avant Garde 80s Chicago panel with P. Michael and Travis of Ono, and Bil Vermette
7-7:30 PM: Bil Vermette Performance
7:30-8:30 PM: Chicago Soul panel with Renaldo Domino, Jackie Ross, and Aaron Cohen
Late show
9:30 PM: Renaldo Domino backed by the Heavy Sounds will perform with support from Heart of Chicago Soul Club DJs. Heart of Chicago Soul Club, led by Debbie Koller, spins all vinyl and "Rare Soul with the Heart of Chicago in mind. We not only have heart, we have rare soul."
The La Humita On Wheels Food Truck will be present for hungry patrons from 6:30-9:30 PM
