Heart of Chicago Soul Club Rare Dance Party at the HideOut
Heart of Chicago Soul Club is a group of women who are “obsessed” with collecting vinyl with rare northern soul music from the 1960s-70s, We also cross over to other danceable genres like psychedelic, vintage rnb,popcorn and other 60's and 70's sounds. We are DJ's who are dancers first and won't play a tune if we wouldn't dance to it. We love that communal vibe on the dance floor and you will most likely see our DJ's out on the floor with you. DJ
s Debbie, Rockin Ricki, Psyche Prissie Pie and Kat will be back as well as a guest to be named later. Northern Soul is an upbeat dance phenomenon started in the North of the UK, coined in the 70's ,but sprung out of the mod movement of the 60's. Northern Soul has never left the culture of the UK and is going strong in clubs across the UK with youth and the originators of the movement. Our club is good friends with and has twinned with Blackburn Oldies Northern Soul Club in the UK, a group of original Wigan Casino attendees who host a monthly in Blackburn Lancashire's St. Andrews Ballroom. DJ Debbie attended and DJ'd with Shaun Callon and Debbie Thornhill from Blackburn Oldies in her last trip to the UK and is taking inspiration from that real Northern feel. NPR
