Love, Mother Goose: A U.S. Army Captain's Stories of Surviving the Sunni Triangle
On Wednesday, November 13th at 6:30 PM, The Book Stall (811 Elm St. in Winnetka) is delighted to host local author Carrie Hoza for an in-store discussion featuring her book Love, Mother Goose: A U.S. Army Captain's Stories of Surviving the Sunni Triangle. Carrie will be joined in conversation with writer Holly Marihugh.

More About the Author: Carrie Hoza is a former Army Captain deployed to the Sunni Triangle in Iraq from 2004-05. As a female leader of a platoon of 35 men, Hoza drove 40-ton truckloads of JP8 jet fuel in unpredictable conditions on dangerous roads. Her platoon ran mission after mission, where tragedy struck, and soldiers were injured or killed. Yet she tried to stay connected and upbeat, regularly writing emails home to family and friends in Winnetka, IL. Her new book, Love, Mother Goose, compiles those emails and tells her platoon’s story of survival, courage, and resilience. Carrie received the Bronze Star Medal for leadership and service.
Conversation Partner Holly Marihugh is a former speechwriter with an M.A. in Journalism from the University of Maryland. She’s both participated in and led creative writing groups and book discussion groups. She launched her blog, Winnetka60093, on Facebook in early 2014 and continues featuring stories there. Her posts have also been published by DailyNorthShore.com.
