East Chicago 4th District Council Stacy Winfield to Host 6th Annual Breast Cancer Awareness Walk

East Chicago, IN – Councilwoman Stacy Winfield of the city’s 4th District will once again bring the community together for an important cause. On Saturday, October 18, 2025, she will host the 6th Annual Breast Cancer Awareness Walk at Sunnyside Park, 4100 Deal Street, East Chicago, IN from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Her theme has been, “Support a Survivor and Take a Lap for Love,” highlights the strength, courage, and resilience of those who have battled breast cancer, while encouraging the community to show their support by walking together in unity. Adding to the significance of the event, six local women—each with their own story of survival and advocacy—will lead the walk. Their presence symbolizes the collective hope, determination, and love shared by survivors, families, and supporters throughout East Chicago and NWI. Councilwoman Winfield expressed her gratitude for the community’s continued support of the annual walk. “Each year, this event grows stronger because of the love and unity we share for survivors and in memory of those we have lost. Together, we walk not only for awareness, but also for healing and hope,” she said. The Breast Cancer Awareness Walk has become a staple in East Chicago, drawing participants of all ages. Community organizations, health advocates, and residents join in to raise awareness about early detection, promote healthy lifestyles, and honor survivors. The walk is free and open to the public. Participants are encouraged to wear pink in solidarity with breast cancer survivors and their families. Vendors will also be on site providing resources, information, and handcrafted goods. Winfield states, that they also walk on behalf of all cancer survivors. For more information about participation or vendor opportunities, contact Councilwoman Stacy Winfield (219)397-3734.
